Training with Blazepaw and StormflowerComplete

The eagerness in Blazepaw suddenly died from a spark of realization. "Swiftstep didn't teach me anything yet," Blazepaw mewed, flattening her ears down in embarrassment. "I haven't been an apprentice for long, and Swiftstep seems to be pretty busy," the apprentice resumed.

 

Blazepaw lifted her head up head up a bit more, seeing Stormflower wasn't mad about her not learning anything yet. 

"Yeah, that sounds awesome!" the apprentice chirped and smiled a toothy grin up at the warrior.

 

As soon as Stormflower raised her tail, Blazepaw quickly sat down to listen to what she had to say. The apprentice perked her ears up at the caw of the crow, and shot a quick glance in it's direction before looking back at Stormflower.

"Frogs..."  the apprentice thought. She curled her face into a snarl in a moment as she pondered. "You have to get 'em from behind." the apprentice mewed, "And...uh..." she continued "What else would you do?" she resumed in thought. "Oh! And you'd have pounce on them real quick, so they don't hop away!" she concluded proudly.

 

Blazepaw gazed around the territory, looking at the tall pines and scarce undergrowth after she was told too. She recognized the somewhat open atmosphere, compared of her knowledge of what ThunderClan's territory might look like.

She continued listening to Stormflower, taking in as much information as she could remember. "Keep still, blend, and pounce...keep still, blend, and pounce.." the apprentice repeated in her head for a few moments. As the warrior finished speaking, Blazepaw nodded softly in understanding.

 

The young apprentice studied Stormflower's crouch for a few heartbeats before mocking her crouch. Blazepaw didn't notice how high her tail was or how wide her paws were, as she was attempting to keep as low to the ground as possible.

 

Blazepaw suppressed a low growl in anger to herself, "I thought I had it...." She flicked her whiskers and curled her lips in agitation. Blazepaw looked back enough to see where Stormflower had placed her slim tail and kept it in it's place. She twisted her head back to the front while flexing her muscles to keep balance.

"Blend in with the territory..." Blazepaw repeated, feeling sure that her hunting crouch look good. As Stormflower continued speaking, Blazepaw looked down at her paws. She shifted them closer together and looked back up. Blazepaw made sure she her body and tail were low enough to the ground, to where her short fur grazed along it. "It would," the apprentice responded, not realizing it was rhetorical.

 

Listening to Stormflower, Blazepaw focused her glare at the leaf. She imagined she was in a real hunting patrol. She felt her heartbeat quicken in anticipation. "It's now or never!" Blazepaw told herself. She slit her pupils to focus on the leaf, took a deep breath, and flexed her hind legs. "You got this..." she thought again, while flicking her whiskers in nervousness.

Suddenly unsheathing her claws, Blazepaw bunches power into her hind legs, and pounces. The young apprentice leaped off the ground, and parted her mouth to where her fangs were somewhat bared. Blazepaw stretched her front paws out, reaching for the leaf. When she was about half way to the leaf, Blazepaw felt herself falling back down. She arched her paws for a grabbing motion. "This is like playing with a moss ball!"  she quickly thought. While she was falling down, a thought suddenly struck her: How am I gonna land this?"  Blazepaw became anxious, but before she could do anything, she swiped the leaf on to her claws, but crashed down into a front flip.

"Ugh.." the apprentice moaned. She looked down at her claws, seeing the leaf she stabbed in them. Using her left paw, she ripped it, and picked it up in her mouth. Blazepaw looked over at Stormflower, and put a nervous smile on.

 

Blazepaw nodded in a quiet response, and crouched back into her hunting crouch. She lowered herself down, made sure her tail was down this time, and shifted her paws underneath her. You got this! she told herself Just relax, and pounce. 

She slit her pupils again, but kept a non-strenuous expression. Bringing energy to her hind legs, Blazepaw leapt off the mushy ground. Like last time, she stretched her paws out until her claws came out. Teeth bared, Blazepaw dove down at the leaf, this time knowing if she doesn't keep her balance, she'll crash. Blazepaw drove her head down to grab the leaf. After biting it, she skid to a semi-halt, now knowing to keep her claws unsheathed to land after her earlier incident.

Blazepaw held her breath until she knew her stance was solid, and darted her eyes at Stormflower, glimmering in excitement.
